One mom's journey to lose the baby weight, get fit and stay sain

I have given birth to five children. With each pregnancy I have gained weight, some more than others. At my heaviest I gained 45 pounds. I am currently hovering around 175 and would like to be at least 140 if not lower. I haven't seen the scale at 140 in almost 8 years, so I am excited to get started on the road to a fabulous body and great health.

I hate diets. I hate diet food. And I hate counting calories. There are many reasons I dislike counting calories and following diets, so for now I will just sum up. I don't like diets because I am a rebel at heart. I hate being told what I can and cannot eat. I also dislike diets because they contradict each other, what one diet says is good the other calls bad. I don't count calories because I think that where your food comes from is more important than how many calories it contains. I will do a post later on that goes more into calories and food. So, no diets, no calorie counting. What am I going to do to?

My goal is not only to lose but be healthy as well. In order to achieve both goals the best path to follow is one filled with whole foods, fresh veggies and fruits, grains, nuts, and seeds - good wholesome, unadulterated plant foods. Smoothies are a great and easy way to incorporate lots of whole foods into a diet. Smoothies can be delicious and healthy at the same time so they are a good way to get a lot of nutrition. Now, there are diets out there that dictate when, how often, how many smoothies a person should have. There are websites and books that outline how much fruit and greens should go into a veggie to achieve "ultimate balance". But, because of the aforementioned rebellious streak inside of my head, I want to run screaming away from the sites or books to the nearest pizzeria and forget the whole thing. I like to keep things simple and eat what feels good to my body. In order for me to stick with a plan it needs to be easy to follow and something I can do while running after children. I have my hands full already, I don't want to add more stress on my plate.

So, the sake of simplicity I am going to be easy on myself. I will eat a plant based diet (more on this later) and use smoothies as a way to help achieve this goal. I will post smoothie recipes with reviews, about exercise videos and workout routines, and my overall journey to a healthy body and lifestyle.
